These scans are mandatory by the SIEOG (Italian Society of Obstetric-Gynecological Ultrasound) during the morphological examination of the fetus.<\/p>\n<p>In case a complete evaluation of the anatomy of the heart and the great vessels is required, fetal echocardiography is performed, a second level examination that involves a direct sequential analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The examination is preferably performed between the 20th and 25th week of gestation.<\/p>\n<p>Congenital heart diseases by scanning are:<\/p>\n<p>4 chambers and malformations:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u2013 Atrial anomalies: single atrium, A-V insufficiency atriomegaly, congenital mega-atrium interatrial defect (ostium primum).<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 septal defects: interventricular defect, complete A-V canal<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 single A-V input.: tricuspid atresia, hypoplastic left heart, single-entry single ventricle, hypoplastic right heart<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 double entry into single ventricle: single ventricle with double entry<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 ventricular disproportion: aortic coarctation, mitral stenosis, pulmonary atresia<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 reduced unilateral contractility: critical aortic stenosis, critical stenosis \/ pulmonary atresia<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 reduced bilateral contractility: cardiomyopathy<\/li>\n<li>\u2013 bilateral myocardial hypertrophy: cardiomyopathy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Scan of the three vessels:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>caval anomalies: left superior cava persistence, right superior cava agenesis<\/li>\n<li>arch anomalies: aortic coarctation, interruption of the arch, right aortic arch<\/li>\n<li>pulmonary anomalies: pulmonary atresia<\/li>\n<li>anomalies of the thymus: aplasia, hypoplasia<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Left outflow scan:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>septal anomalies: peri membranous DIV in outlet, DIV in malalignment<\/li>\n<li>anomalies of the aorta: critical aortic stenosis, aortic hypoplasia truncus arteriosus<\/li>\n<li>junction anomalies: transposition of the great vessels, double outlet right ventricle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-2160","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 -
