The disease that most often affects the shoulder joint is called periarthritis. We find it mainly in middle-aged patients. The main subjective symptoms are pain and loss of mobility in the humeroscapular joint. Periarthritis occurs gradually, first with light pains and then with more acute symptoms, therefore, for example, of a rheumatic disease. Due to trauma, the joint block occurs suddenly with acute inflammation and swelling accompanied by severe pain.
The therapy is directed towards the sick part without losing sight of the general picture and all the factors that can influence the symptoms. If we have acute trauma, a swollen, inflammatory or hot part, we proceed in each of these cases with the application of cold. The intent is to produce local vasoconstriction with interruption of the blood supply and tissue deflation, a reabsorption of interstitial fluids, a process assisted by reactive vasodilation, well controlled by the nervous system, in the phase following cooling.
Some physical therapies applied at the same time are: ultrasound therapy, anesthetic electrotherapy against painful muscles, electrostimulation to strengthen them and relax them at the same time. Also in this case, tecar therapy is of excellent use.
