With the recent evolutions of prenatal tests, we are able to provide information on the most common chromosomal diseases simply with a maternal blood sample. In fact, fetal DNA (cfDNA) circulates in the maternal blood, and it is therefore possible to perform a venous sample from the mother after the 10th week of pregnancy to detect:
trisomy 21 or Down syndrome with a 99% reliability
la trisomy 18 or Edwards syndrome with a reliability of 98%
trisomy 13 or Pateau’s syndrome with a reliability of 80%
provides information on the aneuploidy Y and the sex of the unborn child with a reliability of 99%
– It is a risk-free test
– With a very high 99% confidence rate, 0,1% false positives
– it can be done at all ages, at any stage of pregnancy after the 10th week
also in egg donation pregnancies
The test results will be delivered 15 days after collection.
Withdrawals are made only MONDAY morning from 8.30 to 10.30
Before undergoing the test, it is necessary to carry out an interview with Dr. Domizia Bianco, who will inform the couple about the limits of the procedure, the advantages, the disadvantages.
It is important to clarify that it DOES NOT replace the CVS or Amniocentesis, in fact if you test positive for the Harmony test, you must confirm the diagnosis with an invasive test.
